The Edison Current is a free weekly email newsletter about Edison, Metuchen, Iselin and Highland Park, New Jersey. This page explains, in plain English, what we collect when you sign up and what we do with it.
What we collect
When you subscribe, we collect your email address. If you sign up through our Facebook or Instagram form, it also asks which town you live in (Edison, Metuchen, Iselin, Highland Park or Other). That is all our sign-up forms ask for.
Where you can sign up
You can subscribe on our website, theedisoncurrent.beehiiv.com, or through a sign-up form in one of our ads on Facebook or Instagram. If you use the Facebook or Instagram form, Meta passes your email address and town answer to us so we can add you to the list. Meta's own handling of your information is covered by Meta's privacy policy, not this one.
How we use it
We use your email address only to send you The Edison Current, our free weekly newsletter, and emails directly about your subscription (for example, a welcome email). We may use town answers in total, as counts by town only (for example, how many readers live in Metuchen), to describe our readership to local sponsors.
Who handles it
Our subscriber list is managed in Beehiiv, the service we use to send the newsletter. Sign-ups from our Facebook and Instagram forms, including the town answer, are downloaded from our Meta ad account and added to Beehiiv by us. Beehiiv and Meta handle this information only so we can run the newsletter.
What we never do
We never sell your email address or your answers. We never share your individual email address or answers with sponsors, advertisers or other businesses. The only services that handle them are the ones named above that we use to run the newsletter.
Unsubscribing
You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email we send. It takes one click, and you'll stop getting the newsletter.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
